On February 23rd, the Young Professionals Network (中Y意) of the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and in collaboration with Gi Group Holding, successfully hosted the first session of the Mentorship Program 2024.
Titled “Career Plan for the Chinese market”, the first session featured insights from our Mentor Daniele Merlerati, Chief Regional Officer APAC, Switzerland, Baltics at Gi Group Holding, on how to build a career plan by giving the participants some valuable perspectives and practical advice.
The Mentorship was opened by welcoming remarks from Federica Viggiani, CICC Deputy Secretary General, followed by an introduction from Pasquale Pometti, Vice-Coordinator of the Young Professional Group at the CICC.
A key highlight of Mr. Merlerati’s insights was the importance of having a career plan before researching a job and well-structured alternative plans. During the session, participants also had the opportunity to analyze the concepts of job hopping and improvisation in building their career map and discuss the difference between PhD and MBA after graduation.
Regarding the Chinese working environment, Mr. Merlerati described it as dynamic and fast-paced, so particularly suitable for young people who are looking for steady professional growth.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Merlerati stressed the importance of continuous learning when entering the job market. Using his words, he highlighted: "You have to learn to learn! Keep your goals fixed, but simultaneously, learn to navigate in a constantly changing environment."
