National Major R&D Programme in China: call for proposals for research projects

China-Italy Chamber of Commerce reports the first call for proposals of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST)  in the occasion of the National Major R&D Programme in China.

The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) published the first “call for proposals” of 6 leading projects for the National Major R&D Programme:

1. Research on stem cells transformation.
2. R&D of digital diagnosis and treatment Facility.
3. Research on air pollution control technology,
4. New energy vehicles.
5. R&D of chemical fertilizers and pesticides reduction efficiency technology
6. Breeding technology for the seven major crops.

The projects are open to foreign researchers working for universities and research centers in China, who can partecipate as “principal investigators” and to all companies with legal office in China for at least one year, according to the following eligibility criteria:

• Research institutes, higher education institutions and enterprises with independent legal person status registered in Chinese mainland for over one year, with strong S&T R&D capacities and conditions and regulated operational management
• Proposals should be submitted via recommendation; duplicate or multiple applications not permitted
• Foreign scientists and those from HK, Macao and Taiwan employed by mainland entities can be Principal Investigators of the pilot projects

The proposals must be submitted online (http://service.most.gov.cn) from December 1^st 2015 to January 4^th 2016 (except for projects on stem cells for which the submission occurs in 2 phases).

The projects will be handled by the following agencies:

• Research on stem cells transformation: China National Centre for Biology Development (CNCBD)
• R&D of digital diagnosis and treatment Facility: CNCBD
• Research on air pollution control technology: The Administrative Centre for China´s Agenda 21 (ACCA21)
• New energy vehicles: MOST High Tech R&D Centre
• R&D of chemical fertilizers and pesticides reduction efficiency technology: MOA S&T Development Centre
• Breeding technology for the seven major crops: China Rural Technology Development Centre of MOST
