Legal & Compliance for Retailing In China | Useful Advice for Companies

Dear Members and Friends,

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce that the workshop "Road to the East - Legal & Compliance for Retailing In China" was held online and offline at CICC Shanghai Office on September 10th 2021.

Three panellists kicked off the discussion with presentations on various aspects of Intellectual Property, followed by a question and answer session.

The speech of the first panellist, Mr Fabio Giacopello, Managing Partner at HFG Law & Intellectual Property, focused on the Matrix of IP. After sharing his knowledge on what IPR means, he provided many examples to better explain how to protect intangible assets. He also outlined the trademark application procedure, which was really helpful for participants.

The second panellist Ms Angell Xi, Partner at Jingtian & Gongcheng Shanghai Office, discussed the issue "A power to empower retail - IP Licensing". The speech of Ms Xi was composed of 4 parts: “Power of IP Licensing in Retail, Global and China”; “How IP Licensing Empowers Retail?”; “How to Empower Retail with IP Licensing?” and “What to Watch in IP Licensing to Avoid Risks?” Besides, she shared many examples to show positive effects of empowering IP licensing in retail.

Last but not least, Ms Jing Wang, partner at Boss & Young, provided participants with a quick overview for understanding Chinese authorities. Ms Wang introduced the foreign investment law in China and explained the most important amendments of this law since 2019. Besides, several core concepts were introduced, such as SAMR, bonded warehouse, etc.
