Italian Design Day, March 2nd 2017_Post Event

Dear Members and Friends of CICC,

In occasion of the Italian Design Day, the CICC in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Institute of Culture, and the Italian Trade Agency organized a lecture on March 2nd at the Italian Institute of Culture.

The event was thought to celebrate the Italian excellency in design and how important design has been in the Italian culture and economy for many centuries. After the welcome speech by H.E. Ambassador of Italy in the P.R.C. Ettore Francesco Sequi, the event continued with the speeches by Davide Rampello, President of Triennale di Milano, Architect Patricia Viel, and Vittorio Sun Qun, Vice Director of the Beijing Design Week Organizing Committee.

The conference then continued with a case study of SMEG, to prove once again the key role design has in the Italian companies. The speaker was Matteo Oppici from SMEG. After his presentation, there was a Q&A session that showed the great interest and curiosity of the more than 150 people attending the event.

As an additional proof of the great importance held by design in the Italian economy and products, four Italian companies - Ducati, Piaggio, SMEG, and Progetto CMR - organized a display of their products and projects.

After the end of the conference, the attendees had the chance to continue the evening by tasting the catering by Galleria and the sparkling wine by Cruitaly, while networking and exchanging comments on the content of the lectures.
