On May 20, 2025, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) met with the representatives of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM) in Beijing. The meeting was attended by Liu Bo, Deputy Director General of the Department of European Affairs; Sun Liang, Director; and Wang Hao, Director.
Representing the CICC were Chairman Lorenzo Riccardi, Vice President in Guangzhou Vinicio Eminenti, Secretary General Fabrizio Costa, and Head of the CICC Beijing Office Federica Viggiani.
The discussion focused on key topics of mutual interest, beginning with the presentation of the CICC Business Sentiment Survey. The survey offered MOFCOM insights into the current business climate and expectations of Italian companies operating in China. Both sides engaged in a constructive dialogue on the potential for further growth in bilateral trade and investment, underscoring the importance of a stable and transparent business environment.
The MOFCOM representatives expressed appreciation for the support provided by the CICC in joint initiatives. The conversation also addressed ongoing challenges related to market access, including import barriers for Italian agri-food products, a concern raised by many Italian businesses in the sector.
The meeting concluded in a spirit of mutual cooperation, reaffirming the shared commitment to strengthening the economic and commercial ties between Italy and China.
