"Eurozone crisis: Do I need a contingency plan?", June 29th, 2012

Although last week’s elections in Greece might not have had the dramatic effect commentators feared, the situation in the Eurozone is still far from stable. With politicians openly discussing the gravity of the crisis and the possible consequences of a Greek exit from the Eurozone, this is a topic that businesses worldwide cannot ignore. Many organisations are therefore developing contingency plans to prepare for major events which might still unfold in Europe.

In this seminar, Peter Goes, partner at Linklaters, will discuss the possible outcomes of an exit of a country as a consequence of the Eurozone crisis. He will explain how each scenario will affect both European and non-European businesses and how companies can prepare themselves. Topics include what will happen to euro denominated contracts and bank accounts upon a country leaving the Eurozone, and how European governments might impose foreign exchange controls in case of an exit.
