  The upcoming leadership transition provides the opportunity to enact much-needed reforms in China’s approach to foreign and domestic private investment, according to the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, which will launch the 13th annual edition of its primary lobbying document, the European Business in China Position Paper 2012/2013. The good news is that China`s strategic importance for European companies has increased to unparalleled levels as European companies continue to see increased revenues and profits. Unfortunately, the development of the regulatory is not in step with the development of the market. Despite high level pronouncements regarding the importance of foreign investment and equal treatment for all companies registered in China, the regulatory environment for foreign enterprises conversely appears to have worsened. At the conference, Mr. Dirk Moens, Secretary General of the European Chamber will present a summary of the key issue in this year`s position paper. Representatives of the Chamber`s Board Members and Working Groups will also be on hand to answer questions related to their industries. High Level Dialogue on the import of Italian wines in China - Guangzhou, September 25th 2012

  The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce together with the Italian General Consulate in Guangzhou and the support of the Italian Trade Commission - Guangzhou Office - are organizing a ‘High Level Dialogue on the import of Italian wines in China’.  The event will be held in Guangzhou on September 25th 2012. Italian wine importers and other agents operating in this industry are kindly invited to attend the event. The workshop will focus on compliance and regulations of wine and spirits imported into China and the impact these have in the customs clearance process. Most importantly, it will be an occasion to foster debate among Chinese top officials and Italian wine importers with respect to the informal barriers that many Italian wine importers are facing concerning the entry/exit process and labeling conformity approval. It will cover such topics as: customs regulations, required documentation, importer and exporter customs registration codes, labeling and marking requirements, deposit fees on specific wines, time of clearance, interpretation of customs regulations and labeling rules etc. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session so as to solve problems on a case by case approach. The final aim of the seminar will be to provide an open forum to help Italian wine importers to address potential delays in clearance and avoid any negative impact deriving from custom practices.
