Post Event | Visit and Embrace New City during the 14th Five-Year Plan, 21 June 2021

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) is glad to announce that the promotion activity "Visit and Embrace New City during the 14th Five-Year Plan" was held in JW Marriot Hotel Fengxian on Monday 21 June 2021 with approximately 270 guests present and 400,000 online viewers.

The Deputy District Mayor of the People’s Government of Fengxian, Mr. Gu Yi, warmly welcomed all the distinguished guests that included Consuls General from different countries, representatives of Chambers of Commerce, and CEO and General Managers from International and domestic companies.

Soon after, the Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, Ms. Zhu Yi, took the floor. She pointed out that, with the launch of the "14th Five-Year Plan”, Shanghai is rapidly forming a new regional “center radiation, double-wing balance, new city development and north-south transformation". Fengxian is one of the five major new cities Shanghai will focus on during the "14th Five Year Plan". The construction of the “five new cities” in the Qingpu, Fengxian, Jiading, Nanhui and Songjiang districts – a top priority in Shanghai's strategic plan for future development – is an important measure to better serve the national strategy of integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.

Following Ms. Zhu Yi's speech, Mr. Yuan Quan, Acting District Mayor of the People’s Government of Fengxian, and Ms. Zhang Xian, Director of Fengxian District Economic Commission, presented the overall situation of the business environment and local industry. The Oriental Beauty Valley, China’s largest cosmetics and health industrial hub with more than 3,000 brands from both home and abroad, promotes alternative energy applications.

During the signature of MoUs between Fengxian Government and other parties, Mr. Valtero Canepa, CICC Vice Chairman in Shanghai, signed a letter of intent for strategic cooperation with the Investment Promotion Office of Fengxian District. CICC was the only chamber of commerce to sign a letter of intent. The purpose of the agreement is to promote the establishment of information exchange and communication channels, expanding cooperation in various fields of investment. The Fengxian District also signed cooperation agreements with various multinational companies.

On this occasion, Mr. Valtero Canepa gave a speech on how CICC is contributing to the development of Fengxian New City, emphasizing the role of the CICC in promoting the Shanghai economy and supporting the construction of the five major new towns with the following strategies:

● Improving the dialogue with the Shanghai authorities.

● Informing our members about the opportunities offered by these strategic initiatives and the various policies to support the foreign investments implemented by the Shanghai Government.

● Practically supporting the companies interested to establish in Shanghai their HQS.

● Supporting Italian companies interested to enter the Chinese market.

Then, Mr. Canepa stressed how the Italian companies are leaders in business sectors that are the focus of Fengxian future plan, such as healthcare, cosmetics, design and quality manufacturing, quality food, wine and green economy.

The same concepts were emphasized by Mr. Canepa in an interview with Dragon TV (东方卫视).

Finally, Mr. Zhuang Mudi, Secretary of CPC Fengxian District Committee, concluded with a summary speech.

After lunch, the Fengxian Government organized guided tours of the Fengxian Museum.
