The fair Vinitaly Chengdu hosted on Sunday March 20th and Monday 21st the two special masterclass about the Veneto wines.

The masterclass has been organized by Uvive (Unione Consorzi Vini Veneti DOC – DOCG), Veneto Promozione and the China Italy Chamber of Commerce.

At the fair there were the president of Uvive Arturo Stocchetti, and the enologist Nazareno Vicenzi, who has been the moderator for the masterclass.

“Italy is worldwide known for wine production and export, but we can do more in China” said the Italian ambassador Ettore Sequi to show the full support of Italian institutions to the companies in Chengdu. “The Chinese market still has unexplored opportunities and I encourage whoever works in the field to join together to tackle the challenges of the Chinese market. The small-medium size of the companies are not always a limit, as shown in other fields. Our companies, if well organized, can be powerful even in a continental-wide market, such as the Chinese one.” The ambassador concluded reminding that the Italian institutions are side to side to the Italian companies for the success and the spread of the Italian wine on the Chinese market. “It’s a commitment that gives advantages not only to our business, but also to our culture and our identity.”

The wine journalist Wu Shuxian opened the masterclass presenting her book “Cin Cin a Venezia”, which gives a detailed introduction to Veneto’s 14 DOCG and DOC wine production.

On Sunday, the winery Sartori offered its wines for the wine tasting, while the winery Santa Sofia was the provider of the wines tasted on Monday’s masterclass. Many wines coming from the Veneto region were the protagonists of the wine tasting: Amarone, Prosecco, Recioto, Bardolino and many others coming from the Valpolicella and Soave areas.
