TIanjin Roadshow, March 28

28 March 2023

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CCIC) is pleased to announce the success of the two-day event held in Tianjin starting on March 28, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in China and the Italian Trade Agency (ICE).

The event was organized by the CCIC in collaboration with the Tianjin Development and Reform Commission, the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone (TJPFTZ), and the Mechanical and Engineering Working Group (MEWG). The initiative was hosted by the Municipal Government of Tianjin and supported by the Bank of China, Tianjin Branch. The objective of this was to strengthen the presence of the Chamber in a strategically important sector for Italian businesses in China. The new CCIC office in Tianjin, inaugurated on the same day, marks the eighth office in China, serving as a hub for commercial initiatives and a reference point for Italian companies.

The delegation then visited Goglio (Tianjin) Packaging Co., Ltd., attending the inauguration of Phase III, a significant investment in Tianjin's innovative landscape. Additionally, a guided tour of two local companies took place at the German Sew-Eurodrive (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. and Chinese Great Wall Motors (GWM).

On this occasion, the entrepreneurs present were able to gain insights into the history of two different business entities and visit their factories through a guided tour, understanding their organization and the factors that contributed to their success in the field.

A business conference and a roundtable on the automotive sector were also held, emphasizing the strong ties between Italy and Tianjin and exploring business opportunities for Italian companies.

The two-day conference was designed to provide companies with an in-depth understanding of business opportunities in Tianjin, with a focus on the manufacturing industry. As previously announced, the 2023 Tianjin-Italy SME Business and Investment Conference was held, along with matchmaking meetings and visits to local and foreign manufacturing companies leading the area.

This can be considered the first high-level institutional and business event in the region, providing significant opportunities for commercial matchmaking with Chinese clients. Welcoming remarks were given by Yang Bing, Vice Mayor of the Municipal People's Government of Tianjin, Marco Midolo, First Counselor and Head of the Economic and Commercial Office at the Embassy of Italy in the People's Republic of China, Paolo Bazzoni, President of the Italy-China Chamber of Commerce, and Gianpaolo Bruno, Commercial Commissioner and Coordinator of ICE Offices in China and Mongolia.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in this event!
