Recap Event | POLIMI Day at Tongji, May 21st

Dear Members and Friends,

On 21 May, the CICC attended the POLIMI Day & Tongji-PoliMi Collaborative Symposium, an event co-organized by Tongji University and Politecnico di Milano on the occasion of the 117th anniversary of Tongji University.

This was an occasion to present the Politecnico di Milano and Tongji Collaboration and introduce research topics and prospects of faculty groups of research collaboration teams from both universities. Additionally, the two universities signed an agreement to establish a PhD double degree program, opening a new chapter of talent cultivation and research cooperation. 

The event saw the attendance of many important figures, coming from both the Politecnico di Milano and Tongji University and the corporate world. The event was kicked off by Vice-president of Tongji University, Prof. LOU Yongqi, the Vice-rector for China of the Politecnico di Milano, Prof. Giuliano Noci, the Science and Technology Counsellor at the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai (PRC), Dr. Vojko Bratina,  and the Vice-Rector, Head of the PhD School, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, Prof. Daniele Rocchi who specifically introduced the Polimi and the new Double PhD Program.

 

 

The event was characterized by a series of themed talks on different topics. Prof. Francesca Valsecchi, College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University, and Prof. Stefano Maffei, Department of Design, Politecnico di Milano, discussed new forms of education, research and entrepreneurial platforms. Prof. CAO Jinxin, College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University and Prof. Daniele Rocchi, Vice-Rector, Head of the PhD School, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Politecnico di Milano, delved into the topic of simulations of non-synoptic wind effects on structures. Prof. WU Guangqiang, School of Automotive Studies, Tongji University and Prof. Massimiliano Gobbi, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Politecnico di Milano introduced a Laboratory for Digitalization of Vehicle, Driver and Infrastructure. Prof. SHI Xing, Vice Dean, College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University and Prof. Francesco Causone, Department of Energy, Politecnico di Milano touched on the important topic of the performance simulation, design and assessment of low-carbon buildings and cities.

 

 

Also, representatives of two companies members of the CICC were present at the event: Ms Francesca Bonesi Asia-Pacific Program Management Director for UFI Filters, who introduced the topic of Product development change in the Chinese automotive market; and Mr Mirko Turrina General Manager of Goglio (Tianjin) Packaging Co., Ltd, who presented an example of Italian global group’s collaboration with PoliMi and Tongji.

 

 

This was an important event for the Sino-Italian business and academic community, to foster and consolidate cooperation for the future. Thanks to everyone for participating!
