Post event_Smart Mobility Seminar

On 22nd September, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce together with Karnet held a seminar on SMART MOBILITY at FESCO ADECCO Shanghai Office. Karnet and D’Andrea & Partners boutique Law Firm provided an insight into the new world of shared economy in the area of Smart Mobility.

This new economic sector is the direct product of shared economy offered as on internet platforms and on APPs downloaded on mobile platforms.

The new trend has some old roots in the transportation industries (carpooling / taxi services) and some new forces to develop the market (KARNET is the unique provider of carpooling management services through mobile platform in China).  The future may very well see us no longer owning cars but sharing them on mobile platforms or even not driving them.  But for the present we can rely on this new company and its services to organize commuting for employees offering companies savings on shuttle bus and parking spaces while keeping employees engaged in CSR and social experience riding with colleagues.

The Founder of KARNET, Jean Claude ZHANG, remarked that the sector is in growth mode and will still hold many developments in the future.

Furthermore being a new sector it also holds legal issues as the laws always follow business development (even more true when we discuss mobile and internet platforms).  According to Carlo D’Andrea, D’Andrea & Partners, this new business of ridesharing and ride hailing is in the eye of the legislators now in China after several months of undisputed growth.  Legislation is trying to offer guidance to legalize the sector but there is still much to do.

He offered a clear view of the current new legislation that will come into force in November this year and underlined that the carpooling business is supported by the Chinese government as environment friendly and a social cooperation making it for companies a solid “legal” activity to offer to its employees.
