The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC), together with SDA Bocconi School of Management, is pleased to invite you to the seminar “Corporate Challenges in a Changing Global Competitive Landscape: Implications for Italian and European Companies”, which will be held on November 14th, 2025, starting at 17:30 at The Langham, Shanghai, Xintiandi. The event will provide a platform to explore key global economic trends and their impact on European businesses.

In an ever-evolving global economy marked by shifting geopolitical dynamics, technological transitions, and sustainability challenges, companies are increasingly required to rethink their strategies and competitive positioning. The event will offer an in-depth reflection on the key forces reshaping the international economic environment and their implications for Italian and European businesses. The discussion will feature Professor Carlo Altomonte, Professor of Economics of European Integration at Bocconi University, who will share his insights on global economic trends and possible strategies for resilience and growth within the European industrial system. The session will be moderated by Professor Roberto Donà, Professor of Practice in Management at IBSS at XJTLU. The event will be held on the occasion of the presence of the Rotman-SDA Bocconi Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) attendees, and it is open to CICC Members and Members of Alumni Bocconi. It will be an important opportunity to expand your knowledge on a highly topical issue and take advantage of a good networking session, as well as meeting the attendees of Rotman-SDA Bocconi Global Executive MBA (GEMBA).

Speaker Bio

 

Roberto Dona’

Professor of Practice in Management IBSS at XJTLU, Advisor and Independent Director, Chair Investment Forum Shanghai Chapter EUCCC

Roberto Donà is an academic with a strong practical experience in consulting and business advisory. He joined IBSS in May 2013 as a Professor of Practice in Management covering different leadership roles, such as: Associate Dean of Professional Engagement, co-director of the International Technology Transfer Centre (ITTC@XJTLU), Program Director of the Masters of Science in Management and in Project Management. Before joining IBSS he has been a faculty member of SDA Bocconi School of Management and Bocconi University for more than 20 years. In Bocconi he has been inaugural Director of both Executive MBA and Global Executive MBA and Director of the Double Degree in International Management. He has been Visiting Scholar (1996) and Visiting Professor (1998) at Stern School of Business (New York University) and Visiting Professor, Fudan University School of Management, Fudan University. He has a strong international exposure having worked in Russia, Bulgaria, Argentina, USA and China. Since the beginning of his career, he worked also as management consultant for both domestic and international companies serving in several board positions. Currently is also Board Member of the European Chamber of Commerce in China – Shanghai Chapter.

Carlo Altomonte

Professor of Economics of European Integration at Bocconi University, Associate Dean for Stakeholder Engagement at SDA Bocconi, Vice President of ISPI.

Carlo Altomonte is Professor of Economics of European Integration at Bocconi University, and a core faculty member of SDA Bocconi School of Management. He is currently Associate Dean for Stakeholder Engagement at SDA Bocconi, and Vice President of ISPI, the Italian center of Studies on International Politics. From February 2021 to October 2022 he has acted as Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister Office of the Italian Government, under the premiership of Mario Draghi. Since May 2023, he has been appointed by the Italian President of the Republic as Expert Counsellor to the Italian Economic and Social Committee. In this capacity, he chairs the Italian National Productivity Board. His main areas of research are international trade and investment, the political economy of globalization and its implication on competitiveness, published in several leading academic journals. His op-eds feature regularly on the main Italian and European media.
