Italian Culture Day at Museum of Wu, Suzhou

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) is pleased to invite you to join the Italian Culture Day and visit the exhibition "Etruscans: Lords of Ancient Italy" on September 17th 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Museum of Wu, Suzhou. For the occasion, the museum will provide a free guided tour in English and Chinese.

The Etruscans were an ancient population of Italy. They were a lively, wise, passionate, romantic people, who knew how to enjoy good food and good wine, who delighted in songs and dances, and who loved refined art. Gold and jewels, fine sculptures, beautifully painted ceramics, and funerary objects of different materials and shapes, testify to the splendours of what was the ancient Etruscan civilization, a civilization that influenced the Roman religion, culture and form of government and had a profound impact on the subsequent development of Western civilization.

The exhibition is promoted by the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai and by the Italian Cultural Institute of Shanghai. Thanks to more than 300 artifacts of great historical and artistic value from the Civic Archaeological Museum of Bologna (and from the National Archaeological Museum of Naples), the exhibition accompanies us in the daily life and culture of the Etruscan people: from women's to men's costumes, from eating habits to writing and worship. 'Etruscans: Lords of Ancient Italy' is curated by the Civic Archaeological Museum of Bologna and organized by MondoMostre.
