Discovering the High-tech companies based in the Kunshan area.

Save the date for the new event from the Mechanical Engineering Working Group (MEWG) Company Visit series. The event, organized by the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the MEWG and the Kunshan Invest Promotion, will take place on September 13th, 2024, in Kunshan Suzhou.

The aim of the initiative is to provide companies with an in-depth understanding of the business opportunities between the Italian community and the city of Kunshan, and to get in touch with local companies and potential new business partners.

The event will include visits of 3 companies based in Kunshan which are: Kawasaki Robotics, Kuka and Yigongchang Technology & Innovation Industrial Park.

 

About the Kunshan Invest Promotion

Kunshan Investment Promotion Limited Company, approved by the Kunshan Municipal Government, is a market-oriented, professional, and mixed-ownership new investment promotion platform. Established on January 17, 2023, under the guidance of the Kunshan Commerce Bureau and with equity participation from Kunshan Entrepreneurship Holdings Group Co., Ltd., it serves as Kunshan's official investment promotion and cooperation institution.

With a focus on supporting the high-quality development of Kunshan's urban economy, the company is dedicated to serving districts, enterprises, and industrial parks, creating a new platform for investment attraction, publicity, innovation services across the city. Since its inception, the company has embraced a market-oriented approach in its construction policies and development goals, actively exploring new paths in equity structure, business models, resource integration, personnel mechanisms, performance management, and incentive systems to drive Kunshan's investment reform. 

The company's business scope includes promoting Kunshan's investment environment, attracting major projects, providing services for industrial parks, consulting for enterprise services, conducting industrial research, and facilitating orderly industrial transfer.

 

Kawasaki Robotics (Kunshan) Co., Ltd.

Kawasaki Robotics (Kunshan) Co., Ltd. was established on 21st November 2012 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Co. Initially, the company was focused on parts procurement. Due to the development of the robot production capacity the company started running the businesses of selling the complete machine and after-sales service. Up to now, main business scope includes manufacturing and sales of industrial robots, after-sales service, and sales of components.

Kawasaki Robotics (Kunshan) Co., Ltd. is located at No. 7, Hengxinjing Road, Zhoushi Town, Kunshan City, with an area of structure approximately 51,000 square meters, an aggregate investment of 4,720 million yen, and a registered capital of 1,680 million yen. In 2019, Kawasaki Robotics was awarded ‘Top Ten Foreign Invested Enterprises’ and ‘Harmonious Enterprise in Labour Relations’ by the Kunshan government and has been awarded various honors by the Zhoucheng town government many times.

Kawasaki Robotics not only brings advanced products and high-end technology but also introduces several Japanese high-precision technology-based enterprises for service support under Kawasaki's brand effect while driving Taiwan-funded and private enterprises in Kunshan to jointly create a strong and stable industrial chain. Kawasaki Robotics has embedded ‘intelligent manufacturing’ into the traditional industries of Zhou Town with innovative concepts and leading technologies, which has led and promoted the development of a high-end equipment manufacturing industry in the whole of Zhou Town and even Kunshan.

 

Yigongchang Technology & Innovation Industrial Park

Kunshan Chuangye Holding Group is the first cross-industry, comprehensive state-owned enterprise in Kunshan City. It is also the first county-level state-owned enterprise in the country to be awarded an AAA credit rating. Currently, the group owns and controls 36 enterprises. The Yigongchang Technology & Innovation Industrial Park, part of the KSCY Holding Group, currently has three projects, located in Zhoushi Town, Qiandeng Town, and Dianshanhu Town.

The Zhoushi Town project has a total construction area of 145,692 square meters and mainly focuses on industries such as robotics and intelligent manufacturing, as well as key automotive components. The Qiandeng Town project covers 94,184 square meters and primarily targets industries led by new materials, advanced manufacturing, and automation. The Dianshanhu Town project has a total construction area of 132,734 square meters, with a focus on next-generation information technology and new materials as its leading industries.

 

Kuka Group

Midea owns 100% of the shares in KUKA Group, making it the sole owner.

Midea itself is a Fortune 500 listed company based in Shunde/Foshan in southern China and is the world's leading white goods manufacturer. With more than 190,000 employees and a presence in over 195 countries, Midea's products touch the lives of millions of individuals and families through air treatment, air cooling, laundry, small and large kitchen appliances, water appliances, floor care and lighting.

The company employs more than 15,000 people worldwide and has a turnover of around 4.1 billion euros.

Today, KUKA China has established six major business units. They are KUKA Robotics, KUKA Mobile Robot, KUKA System, KUKA Industrial Automation, Swisslog Logistics and Swisslog Medical Treatment.

KUKA has established a comprehensive global service network, with 70 subsidiaries and 46 colleges covering countries and regions in Europe, Asia, North America and South America. With more than 1,400 service personnel, KUKA can respond quickly to the needs of customers around the world. With a weekly shipment volume of around 1,000 robots, and with the support of KUKA's global service ports, they can promptly provide customers with the spare parts they need, covering around 8,000 types.

Today, they have set up several local production facilities in Shunde, Shanghai and Kunshan since KUKA AG began its journey in China. To meet customers' needs efficiently, they have also set up our service branches almost all over the country, which you can see on the map. Kuka is always committed to serving customers to the best of its ability.

A complimentary shuttle bus will be organized from the Shanghai CICC office to Kunshan, departing at 8:00 and arriving at 9:50. At the end of the visit, the shuttle bus will leave at 15:00 to bring participants back to Shanghai.

The MEWG represents the interest of all Italian companies in China working directly or indirectly in the sector on a national base.

  • Coordinate and promote all Italian members’ needs which are active in many different industries of the Chinese mechanical engineering sector (machinery, automotive, component manufacturers, mechanical engineering...);
