Suzhou Municipality Appreciation Meeting

25 April 2009

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, in coordination with the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai and the Italian Institutions in Shanghai has organized the second edition of the Suzhou Municipality Appreciation Meeting.

The meeting saw the participation of nearly 30 Italian companies based in the Suzhou Municipality, having investments in the local industrial parks, at the presence of H.E. Ambassador of Italy, Mr Riccardo Sessa, Suzhou Vice-Mayor, Mr Zhou Weiqiang, Consul General of Italy in Shanghai, Mr Massimo Roscigno, and Vice-Director of Foreign Affairs Office in Suzhou, Mr Pan Yue.

CICC was represented during the meeting by Secretary General, Ms Luisa Bergonzoni, who underlined the importance of creating closer ties between our business community and the local government, and moderated an open Q&A session, during which representatives from the Italian Companies in Suzhou expressed to the authorities some issues they encounter when doing business in the area, and towards whose solution the authorities gave immediate attention.

The outcome of the amicable dialogue resulted into a mutual commitment to create in Suzhou a "service window" for the Italian enterprises, under the guidance of the Suzhou Municipality - aspect which was also underlined during a private meeting between H.E. Riccardo Sessa and the Suzhou Communist Party Secretary Mr Wang Rong.

At the end of the meeting, Ms Luisa Bergonzoni, on behalf of the CICC Suzhou Members, and Mr Zhou Weiqiang, on behalf of the Suzhou Municipality, exchanged gifts as a sign of appreciation and mutual friendship.

The meeting was broadcast by local TV, and a screening can be viewed at following link:
