On July 27th, 2021, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce organized, in cooperation with the Shenzhen Garment Industry Association (SGIA), the Seminar “China-Italy Fashion Industry - Industrial Development Road in the Post-Pandemic Era” in Shenzhen Binhai Cloud Center. The event saw the participation of more than 80 institution representatives, experts of the fashion industry and fashion insiders.
Gathering experts in the fashion industry, the aim was to increase awareness around the fashion industry and foster debate with an eye on the Greater Bay Area, especially in the post-pandemic era.
Before the seminar, Mr. Giorgio Daviddi, Deputy Consul General of Italy in Guangzhou, held an official meeting with Ms. Pan Ming, President of the Shenzhen Garment Industry Association, during which the two sides discussed synergies between China and Italy in the fashion industry, and explored opportunities in the GBA.
At the beginning of the seminar, Deputy Consul General Daviddi delivered a welcoming speech to all the institution and company representatives, journalists and experts of the fashion industry, highlighting the leading role of Italy in the fashion sector, and the two core strengths of the Italian fashion industry's development: design and creativity.
The speech was followed by the warm greetings from Ms. Pan Ming, President of SGIA. Ms. Pan gave a brief introduction about SGIA, the current development and trends of the fashion industry in Shenzhen and in the whole China. After that, Mr. Raphael Paul Cooper, Board Member of the CICC in South China, shared updated data on the Italian and Chinese fashion industry and key figures of the CICC presence in South China.
Focusing on three key factors like creativity, innovation and brand change, the speakers shared their experience and business case, taking into consideration the rapid development of the fashion industry and how the COVID-19 pandemic aftermaths are posing challenges and opportunities to transform the mindset and bring up self-transcendence.
