The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce successfully held the seminar "Logistics for F&B: Plan, Execute, Access to China Market," organized by the CICC Logistics Working Group (LWG) in collaboration with the CICC Food and Beverage Working Group (FBWG), on November 13 at Luna Nera - Italian Bar & Restaurant in Shanghai, with 20 participants in attendance.
The event was moderated by Mario Tasso (LWG Coordinator and Global Account Manager APAC of JAS FORWARDING (CHINA) Co., Ltd.), who invited Cristina Corsini, CICC Board Member, to welcome the participants and briefly introduce the CICC organization, its mission, and working groups.
Daniela Cittadino, Global KAM and Business Development Manager for Savino del Bene in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea, provided an overview of the global air transport market, focusing particularly on air cargo. Her analysis, which covered the first three quarters of 2024, indicated that industry capacity and demand volumes had reached unprecedented levels. She also highlighted the role of air freight in reducing the environmental footprint of global food transportation.
Andrea De Sio, General Manager of GF Logistic China Ltd, spoke about the pressures on logistics in 2024, focusing on maritime transport and freight. Due to the crisis in the Red Sea, lead times have become longer, and some shipping lines face equipment shortages in Mediterranean ports, especially for 20-ft containers. Re-routing has impacted the shelf life of food and credit between buyers and sellers—critical issues for all industries, particularly for perishables.
The final speaker, Candido Mormile, Vice Coordinator of the F&B WG and Founder & Legal Counsel of Kang Lai (Shanghai) International Co., Ltd., addressed the reform of the GACC regulations, which aimed to simplify customs procedures. However, he noted that the reform has arguably made the process more complicated.
The event concluded with a networking aperitif at Luna Nera, where appreciation was expressed to all participants.
