On December 10th, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) organized a successful Career Day in collaboration with Tongji University in Shanghai.
The event provided an excellent opportunity for students and job seekers to connect with representatives from leading foreign and local companies operating in China. It consisted of a Job fair, simultaneously with a seminar session, where representatives of both Tongji University and the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, as well as some of the participating companies, were able to give a speech.
This year, the Career Day was attended by 22 companies, with over 70 job offers and saw the attendance of 180 people, among students and other job seekers.
The event saw the contribution of several important personalities from Tongji University, the participating companies and the Chamber of Commerce itself: Professor Lei Xinghui, Former Vice President of Tongji University and Dean of the Sino-Italian Campus; Ms. Xu Yunxia, Vice Dean of Sino-ltalian Campus of Tongji University, Lorenzo Riccardi, Chairman of the CICC; Ms. Wang Linlin, Director of the Career Development Center of Tongji University and Vojko Bratina, Science & Technology Counsellor at the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, as well as Professor Avril Accolla, Associate Professor at Tongji University and CICC Board member. Their remarks highlighted the significance of fostering educational and business collaborations between Italy and China.
The following keynote session, titled "Economic Relations Between Italy and China: History and Future", featured two distinguished speakers. Stefano Piastra, Professor of Historical Geography at Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, provided an insightful historical overview of the Italian presence in Shanghai in the early 20th century. The presentation of Lorenzo Riccardi, Chairman of the CICC, complemented this by offering a forward-looking perspective on Italy-China business trends, emphasizing opportunities for future collaboration. This brief seminar served as a platform to not only explore the historical presence of Italy in Shanghai but also discuss future business trends and opportunities.
The subsequent session was titled "The Italian Way: Meet the Leading Italian Companies: Key Skills and Insights", and it was moderated by Professor Avril Accolla. It brought together representatives from major companies, including Bracco China, Essilor Luxottica, Generali China Insurance Co., Ltd., Grimaldi Shipping Agencies (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and Marposs (Shanghai) Technologies Co., Ltd. The representatives offered valuable insights into career opportunities, key skills, and innovations across diverse sectors.
The seminar session of the event ended with an interactive workshop led by Henry He, Business Director of Wyser China–GI Group Holding. He focused on practical tips for writing effective CVs and excelling in cross-cultural job interviews, providing attendees with actionable strategies to boost their employability.
The 2024 Career Day successfully fostered meaningful connections and inspired participants to pursue career paths in China.
