RECAP | CICC Members’ Meeting in Eastern China, Nov 19th

22 November 2024

On the 19th of November 2024, the CICC Members’ Meeting in Eastern China took place at The Middle House Hotel, in Shanghai.

The event was attended by about 80 participants, with the presence of some Italian institutional representatives and members of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce.

The meeting was mainly divided into two sessions. The first session opened with a discussion on China Consumers Insights, moderated by Mauro Maggioni, Vice-Chairman of ClCC Eastern China, with the contribution of Bruno Lannes, Senior Partner at Bain & Company, as speaker. Mr. Lannes gave our attendees a very interesting overview of consumers’ current situation, forecasting that the service sector overall will perform much better than the products sector, and that the current situation can make us faithful for the return of brands in China.

Bruno Lannes also shared the report published in these recent days by Bain & Company, which contains an update on the luxury goods market, in particular: insights into the performance of the market for the first three quarters of 2024, with expectations for the last quarter, an estimation for how the luxury market will evolve beyond 2024, with related emerging macro trends and a final Bain’s recommendations for how luxury players can steer the next phase of growth.

This first session ended with a lively Q&A session, offering the participants the chance to explore the topic further and exchange ideas.

The meeting proceeded with the second main session, with several engaging presentations by institutional representatives and members of the Board of Directors of the Chamber.

Lorenzo Riccardi, Chairman at the China-ltaly Chamber of Commerce, presented CICC Action Plan highlighting both past achievements and upcoming activities.

The Consul General Tiziana D’Angelo representing the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai made a brief speech to greet all the attendees.

Augusto Di Giacinto, Director ICE-Agency Shanghai Office, provided a brief recap of 2024 and First Half of 2025 ITA-ICE Agency Promotional Activities.

Donato Morea, Chief Representative, SACE China and East Asia, discussed about Empowering ltalian Enterprises in China: SACE's Strategic Support and Success Stories.

Mauro Maggioni, Vice-Chairman at the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce presented CICC activities: recent and future activities in Shanghai, Zhejiang and Anhui.

Lorenzo Bali’, CICC Board Member-Jiangsu Area, presented CICC activities: recent and future activities in Suzhou and Jiangsu.

Giada Piccinini, ClCC Treasurer spoke about CICC Balance of activities in Eastern China.

Finally, the second and last session of the entire meeting ended with a dynamic Q&A session between CICC Members and the Board of Directors.

The meeting was an important opportunity for all the members of the Chamber to recollect, presenting them with the conspicuous and substantial work carried out by each office in China in the last year 2024. It was also an important opportunity to give an opportunity to allow opening a space for discussion on what has been done and what could be improved.

We would like to thank all the attendees who joined the event, thank you to all our Board Members, the Italian institutional representatives and to the Middlehouse hotel for hosting us.
