Post Event - Chengdu WCIF, September 20th–24th, 2018 – Italy Guest Country of Honor

Dear Members and Friends of CICC,

On September 20^th-24^th, 2018 the 17^th edition of the Western China International Fair (WCIF) was successfully held in Chengdu (Sichuan). Promoted by the Beijing Central Government, the WCIF is an international state-level exhibition and an important platform for the development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

On the important occasion, Italy participated as Guest Country of Honor featuring a strong and cohesive institutional representation: Embassy of Italy in the P.R.C., General Consulate of Italy in Chongqing, ICE-Italian Trade Agency, China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and its member companies.

On September 20^th, 2018 the Deputy Prime Minister of Italy and Minister of Economic Development, Labour and Social Policies Mr. Luigi Di Maio together with the Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Hu Chunhua inaugurated the Italian Pavilion of the WCIF.

The 1200 m² institutional exposition area dedicated to the Italian pavilion was managed by ICE-Italian Trade Agency which selected the "DNA concept" for its set-up.

The CICC held an important role of consultancy and mediation, involving 32 CICC companies which exposed their products and services showcasing the Italian excellence in five main sectorial areas: Environmental Protection and Sustainable Urbanization, Food & Beverage, Healthcare, Industry 4.0, and Lifestyle.

On the occasion the General Consulate of Italy in Chongqing - thanks to the support of the CICC and the active participation of its Working Groups: AAWG, EEPWG and HCWG - organized a series of events and activities such as workshops, forums and seminars aimed at promoting the Sino-Italian collaborations on specific issues related to the Sichuan economy and the Belt and Road Initiative. Among these:

• The 5th International Forum on Intelligent Vehicle and New Energy Vehicle Rally Championship Launching Ceremony;
• The 5th China (Chengdu) International General Aviation Development Summit Forum and Presentation on General Aviation of Sichuan;
• The Sino-Italy (Europe) Great Health Industry Cooperation Summit, Comprehensive and Life-span Health as a Priority: New Agenda to Health Governance in Ageing Society;
• The Sino-Italy Forum on Circular Economy and Green Development.

Cultural activities were also organized such as the concert "Incantevole Italia" performed by the Orchestra of the Carlo Felice Theater in Genoa in cooperation with the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra and the screening of the Italian film "Nico, 1988 ", winner of the "Horizon" prize at the Venice film Festival 2017.
