We would like to draw your attention to the newly released Local Education Surcharge (LES). Enterprises and individuals subject to the value added tax, consumption tax and business tax will pay the LES, whose amount is set at 2% of the aggregate amount of the three taxes. Starting from Jan 1st , 2012 all companies registered in Beijing, including foreign invested companies and sino-foreign joint-ventures, are liable to the Local Educational Surcharge.
