Italy in 10 selfies 2021: the dossier by Symbola Foundation

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present "Italy in 10 selfies 2021 - Facing the future with a human-scale economy", the dossier published by the Symbola Foundation – in collaboration with Unioncamere and Assocamerestero and with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – which illustrates some of the strengths of Italy on which it is necessary to focus in order to best respond to environmental challenges of the future. 

To provide some examples:

• Italy is the most sustainable European country in agriculture, with a quantity of emissions equal to 30 million tons of CO2 equivalent, significantly lower than those of France (76 million), Germany (66 million), United Kingdom (41 million) and Spain (39 million);
• it is a leader in the circular economy, with the highest recycling rate (79.3%) in total waste;
• according to a study by the University of Oxford, it ranks 2nd in the world in the ranking that evaluates the Green Complexity Index, a result that has been achieved thanks to the number of environmental patents filed, low CO2 emissions and strict environmental policies;
• in addition, 432 thousand Italian companies invested in green products and technologies in the 2015-2019 period (almost one in three).
