CICC Roundtable Discussion with Shanghai Municipal Authorities

12 September 2024

A productive roundtable discussion took place in Shanghai on September 10th, 2024, between Shanghai municipal authorities and representatives of leading Italian companies operating in the city.

Organized by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce and the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC), the event provided a valuable platform for fostering dialogue and cooperation between local authorities and the Italian business community.

The meeting focused on enhancing support for the growth and development of Italian businesses in the region while addressing the opportunities and challenges they face. Participants engaged in a comprehensive discussion aimed at strengthening ties between Shanghai and key industries in Italy.

The roundtable was attended by Mr. Liu Ping, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Municipal Government, Mr. Zhu Ming, Chairman of the Municipal Commission of Commerce, and Mr. Lorenzo Riccardi, Chairman of the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, along with officers from local authorities and managers from Italian companies operating in Shanghai.

The event culminated in a Q&A session, where key topics of interest were explored. These included initiatives and policies designed to support businesses in sectors such as lifestyle, logistics, shipping, pharmaceuticals, and green mobility. The session allowed Italian business representatives to raise concerns and seek clarity on critical matters affecting their operations in Shanghai.

This collaborative effort underscores the commitment of both the Shanghai authorities and the Italian business community to deepen their partnership and work together toward shared economic success.

The CICC also supported a mission by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce to Italy and has planned further activities with local authorities in Shanghai.
