2022 Italian Global Design Day

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) is pleased to inform you that on May 24th the 2022 Italian Global Design Day (Chongqing Station) was held at the Jiulong Ecool.

Initiated in 2017 by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Global Design Day (IDD) is an important global event. In more than 100 cities around the world, the “Italian Design Ambassadors” appointed by the Committee of Experts of the Italian Global Design Day will explain to the world the high quality of Italian Design.

The Committee is composed of the Italian Industrial Design Association, the Golden Compass Award, the Milan Triennale, the Milan Furniture Fair, the Italian Furniture Industry Association and the Italian Luxury Industry Association.

This event was organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing, China Merchants Shekou Holdings and Jiulong Ecool, co-organized by the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce and Galileo Galilei Italian Institute, and hosted by Mr Lorenzo Gonzo, Science and Technology Attaché of Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing. 

Mr Guido Bilancini, Consul General of the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing, leaders of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Chongqing Jiulongpo District People’s Government and representatives of CICC’s member companies attended the event.

 

 

This year’s Italian Global Design Day had as its theme “Technology for sustainable urban regeneration”. Mr Massimo Bagnasco, “2022 Italian Design Ambassador”, Partner & Managing Director of Progetto CMR (Beijing) Architectural Design Consultants Co. Ltd, shared the rich experience of Italy and the development method which combines geomorphological features, local culture and ecological development. Then, Mr Xie Hui, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning of Chongqing University, delivered a keynote speech on the challenges of human living environment under climate change by citing relevant cases and sharing cutting-edge design research which focus on the interactivity and the healing role of places.

 

 

The event closed with a roundtable discussion and a Q&A session. Mr Paolo Vincenzo Genovese, distinguished professor of Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Zhejiang University, Mr Massimo Bagnasco, “2022 Italian Design Ambassador”, Mr Liu Diqiu, Associate Professor of Faculty of Art and Design of Chongqing Jiaotong University, Mr Tian Lijin, Project Director of Jiulong Ecool, Mr Gan Chun, founder of Jingluo Creativity, conducted discussions on urban renewal, digital media art, sustainable development, technological innovation and showed Chinese and Italian companies new models and opportunities of cutting-edge urban planning.
