SOMMELIER COURSE

 

Reputed as the best Sommelier Program and the largest Sommelier Association in the world, thanks to over 70 years of professional experience and development, Associazione Italiana Sommelier will start for the first time its Certified Sommelier Courses in Shanghai starting in April 2014.

The course will be held at “8 ½ Otto e Mezzo BOMBANA”. It included AIS’s unique and patented ‘technical tasting method‘, highest standard of service instruction and the globally acclaimed and patented ‘technical food and wine pairing methodology‘, for which the Italian Association is unique and famous.

The sommelier course is divided into three levels: each level consists of 5 days with two 3-hour lessons a day (6/7 hours per day), for a maximum of 3/4 lessons a day according to the subject. During any lesson 3 to 4 wines will be tasted. During the third level also food will be tasted paring with wines.

It will include tasting of more than 100 of the finest wines, beers and spirits and will cover the following topics: Viticulture and Oenology; Wine Tasting Techniques; Beers and Distillates; Duty of Sommelier; Wines of Italy and of the World; Food & Wine Pairing Techniques.

The Course requires no previous professional wine knowledge and it’s open to everybody over 18 years old.

It is an incredible opportunity for people passionate about the glorious world of wine and to those whose familiarity lacks. It is a full Sommelier Course tailored to those who either already work in the wine & restaurant industries or those who desire to obtain the highest possible education.

We believe the Wine & Spirits Industry is expanding and evolving, therefore a broader outlook and preparation is essential. We stand to train, promote and embrace all wine individuals, by the industry professionals from traditional restaurant sommeliers, salesmen, teachers and journalists, to wine enthusiasts alike.

The training is given by professional Sommelier Roberto Bellini, Vice President Associazione Italiana Sommelier. With more than two decades of experience, Mr. Bellini will take you to the wonderful world of wine.

COURSE EQUIPMENT
1. handbag with 4 tasting glasses and bottle opener;
2. AIS books in English. Those published by AIS are:
a) Wine Tasting Technique book – 1st level
b) Food Tasting Technique and Food and Wine Pairing Technique book
c) Wine Tasting notebook – 1st level
d) Wine Tasting notebook – 2nd level
e) Wine Tasting notebook – 3rd level
3. Certificate + Tastevin + Tastevin Pin (just and only after good result in the final exams)
4. Registration to AIS, self-test forms and examination forms

Following books are suggested and we can provide digital version (.pdf files):
-) Oenology book;
-) Italian and World wines Manual;

Price:
Members: 23,000 RMB
No members: 25,000 RMB

Registration fee includes all AIS publications and other facilitations described on the website www.aisitalia.it and it also included the annual registration fee to Italian Sommelier Association.

Abroad annual registration fee could be increased if members request guide and magazine dispatch (guide and magazines are in Italian).

2nd LEVEL: May 2014 – Monday 12th to Friday 16th - from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm
3rd LEVEL: June 2014 – Sunday 15th to Friday 20th - from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm
