About the GBA

The Greater Bay Area (GBA) stands at the forefront of China’s economic development. This dynamic cluster comprises nine cities in Guangdong province along with the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions. Despite representing only 6% of China’s population, the GBA contributes approximately 11% to the country’s GDP.

As a key pillar of China’s development strategy, the GBA seeks to enhance both regional and international cooperation, drive high-quality growth through innovation, and strengthen connectivity across its cities. The ultimate vision is to position the GBA as a globally significant economic powerhouse, on par with the San Francisco Bay Area and the Tokyo Bay Area.

Each city within the GBA boasts unique strengths. Shenzhen is a global hub for technology and innovation. Cities such as Dongguan, Foshan, and Huizhou play crucial roles in advanced manufacturing and industrial development.  As such, the Greater Bay Area (GBA) presents a wealth of opportunities for European SMEs.
