Project background
Strasbourg, France, in history was alternately under control by Germany and France many times, so the language and culture of the city have characteristics of both German and French. At the same time, Strasbourg is also where many European Union organizations’ headquarters locate, including European commission, European court of human rights, etc., so it is known as "the second capital of Europe". Strasbourg Christmas market first run in 1570, about a history of nearly five hundred years, which is one of Europe`s oldest and most famous Christmas market. Every December, it attracts millions of local and foreign tourists, so Strasbourg is also known as "the Christmas capital of Europe", and has been held successfully in Tokyo from 2009, and Moscow from 2012. According to actual statistics, in 2009, Tokyo attracted 600,000 people, and in 2012, Moscow attracted 750,000 people per day.
Beijing · Strasbourg Christmas Market
Beijing·Strasbourg Christmas market is host by Strasbourg tourism bureau who has authorized the exclusive brand to Beijing Yihui international culture development co., LTD. The venue of the first activity is chosen SOLANA, which has Christmas atmosphere in Beijing and richest Europe amorous feelings, perfectly fits the brand image and effectively guarantees quality. The essence of Strasbourg Christmas market will be transplanted completely. And the market will fit Chinese traditional festival idea, through two big festivals, Christmas and New Year`s day, covering four themes: European cuisine, Christmas commodities, entertainment, interactive games. The interactive link will be integrated into visitors’ leisure, shopping, dining and so on each link, including arts and crafts, food production experience, street performances, theatrical performances, double carousel, etc., to comprehensively create the most authentic European Christmas market brand in China.

SOLANA International Business District is located between the North Third Ring Road and Fourth Ring Road, which is the intersection of the three major shopping districts: CBD, Lufthansa, Lido, where bus routes clouds, metro line 14 directly reach. Belonging to Beijing`s core consumption area, it is one of the most developed regions of Beijing economy, where international business consumption environment matures. Currently, Chinese household consumption in the overall consumption structure is growing proportionally, SOLANA caters to this trend, and its rich format is ideal for a family of three, while recreation as the tipping point opens a new commercial consumption pattern: household consumption pattern. Since 2008, SOLNA holds lighting festival during every December, attracting millions of people, and has become one of the most activities in Beijing. Now, SOLANA’s average pedestrian volume during weekday is 26,000 people, 56,000 people from Friday to Sunday, and 85,000 during every festival.
Merchant situation
All merchants of the first Beijing·Strasbourg Christmas market will come from Europe. The total number of booth is expected to 100 or so, presented in wooden Christmas cottage, Christmas kiosk, Christmas cart and elaborate heart-shaped wooden Christmas. Most food are European classic cuisine and made by local chef personally; most products are produced in Europe, the proportion of local handmade products is more than 50%, all decoration arrangement is in accordance with local style, 1:1 complete copy. People can experience authentic European culture, enjoy European Christmas food and European customs.
