Internship opportunity at the EU SME Centre

The EU SME Centre is now looking for an intern for a duration of 6 months starting from March 2021. 

The position is an internship based in Beijing, China.
The deadline for application is 26 February 2021.

About the EU SME Centre
The EU SME Centre (the Centre) is a project funded by the European Union, with aim to help EU small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that prepare to do business in China by providing them with a range of information, advice, training, and support services. The Centre is implemented by a consortium of five partners, with whom we collaborate on executing activities related to assisting and supporting SMEs from EU and COSME participating countries to develop their commercial presence in China.  

Main activities

At the EU SME Centre, we provide a range of free services to EU SMEs looking to develop or grow their commercial presence in China, by offering advice and in-depth technical solutions through our four main services:
- Knowledge Centre – Market reports, guidelines, case studies and articles on how to do business in China
- Advice Centre – In depth technical advice on business development, law, standards and conformity, human resources in China etc.
- Training Centre – Trainings and workshops (online, offline & hybrid) discussing the newest trends or market access regulations in the Chinese market and sharing best practises.
- SME Advocacy Platform – Being the voice of European SMEs in China, we bring EU SME’s issues to the table of key stakeholders, both European and Chinese.

Job Description

As an intern at the EU SME Centre, you will be part of a small multicultural team, providing support to the Centre’s daily activities. You will gain insight and experience in EU-China business related matters and get an opportunity make your contribution to the EU business community in China.

Key Responsibilities (list is not conclusive)

You will contribute to the daily tasks of the Centre, e.g.,
- organising and executing events organised by the EU SME Centre and its partners including support on logistics,
- assisting research on market access and EU-China trade-related subjects,
- Assist with communication activities, including but not limited to website management, email campaigns, social media, graphic design etc.
Participate in business seminars, high-level meetings, training sessions etc.
Support the team on other ad hoc tasks.

Your profile

Degree in one of the following: economics, business management, law, communication, or marketing (previous working experience or knowledge of the EU public sector is a plus)
You have a strong attention to details, being able to navigate through multiple tasks and are comfortable working with tight deadlines.
You are committed, reliable, willing to learn, proactive and open to work in a multicultural team with a good degree of autonomy.
You are fluent in English.
You are proficient in Microsoft Office package and you are capable of editing and adjusting layout of Word, Excel, and Power Point documents. Additional skills in graphic design or web-design are a plus.
