                    With the current pace and scale of urbanization in China, the need to improve building efficiency in order to meet environmental and energy standards and goals is becoming more and more apparent. The green building market is developing and growing rapidly year after year, and the Chinese government has now selected 40 cities including Beijing to undergo energy efficiency retrofits. The government has already decided to achieve a 65% energy consumption reduction on new constructions as compared to existing buildings. These new opportunities and standards also bring numerous challenges and costs. In this dynamic context, our two guest speakers will stress the opportunities and challenges of international Cleantech companies in China.   Mr. Marco Rhyner, Chief Representative China from Cleantech Switzerland, China liaison office will introduce the Chinese Green Building market their projects in China as well as the opportunities and challenges for Cleantech Switzerland.   Ms. Jolanda Jonkhart, Director of Trade and Development Programme, Regional Coordinator for East and Southeast Asia at INBAR (International network for Bamboo and Rattan), will explain the potential in structural applications of bamboo composite. Hosted by China Chamber of International Commerce, the 2012 China Luxury Exhibition was successfully held at China World Trade Center from 8 to 10 June, 2012, where Mr. Sebastian Wood, UK Ambassador to China, was present and delivered remarks. 86 high-end brands from 12 countries participated in the exhibition, including Morgan Cars, Steinway & Sons, Bombardier, Bell Helicopter, Jaguar, Land Rover, etc.   Invited by 6 private banks, 9320 people visited the exhibition, which drew attention of over 200 media agencies from both home and abroad. At the 3-day Exhibition, the total business sales volume hit 8 million USD, with an expected business volume of 100 million USD.   Supported by China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, the 2013 China Luxury Exhibition, which will be launched in China International Exhibition Center in Beijing from 22 to 24 June, 2013, will continue to serve as an ideal occasion for international and domestic top-class brands to meet the right consumers.
