AI Integration in Manufacturing: Lenovo & Siasun Tour, 10.04, TJ

15 April 2025

On April 10th in Tianjin, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and its Mechanical Engineering Working Group (MEWG), in collaboration with the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China Tianjin Chapter, the German Chamber of Commerce in China | North China, Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone (TJFTZ), SACE and supported by Goglio (Tianjin) Packaging, hosted a company visit to Lenovo and Siasun Robot & Automation followed by a roundtable on AI application in manufacturing and innovation financing.

The company visits to Lenovo Tianjin Smart Campus and Siasun provided attendees with valuable insights into the effective integration of robotic arms in high-tech manufacturing and the dual role of AI as both an industrial automation tool and a software solution for streamlining supply chain processes.

More than 40 attendees joined the event and actively participated in exchanges with keynote speakers who introduced:

  • The critical role of data training in enhancing AI applications within industrial processes, along with the challenges of managing complex cross-border data flows between companies and their headquarters.
  • The urgent need for transitioning to smart manufacturing, driven by the rapid pace of AI innovation and the growing obsolescence of traditional industrial processes.
  • The importance of data-driven decision-making for creating a comprehensive roadmap to successfully integrate AI into business processes.
  • The strategic resources offered by the Italian Credit Agency (SACE) to facilitate the internationalization of Italian companies, highlighting its proactive push strategy in the Asian market.
  • Practical case studies that demonstrate the extensive support available to companies navigating the shift to smart manufacturing but also the challenges deriving from the grey zones on data ownership and the difficulties in evaluating ROIs in fast-evolving AI scenarios.
