CICC Joins Bank of China's Event in Shanghai, February 28th

04 March 2025

On February 28th, the "Invest in Shanghai and Share the Future" event organized by Bank of China was successfully held.

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) participated the conference with CICC Chairman Lorenzo Riccardi in video-conference, and with the presence of CICC Board Members Emilio Cassanelli and Davide Angelibusi, Public Affairs Manager Wei Chen and representatives of Italian companies.

Chen Jinshan, member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee of Lin-gang New Area; Zhang Hui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Bank of China, and Yu Yuantang, Director of the European Department of the Ministry of Commerce, attended the event.

At the event, Lorenzo Riccardi delivered a video speech. He reiterated CICC continued commitment to promoting economic exchanges between Italy and China and advancing new opportunities for cooperation.

In his speech, Chen Jinshan pointed out that building the China Italy International Innovation Cooperation Industrial Park is an important measure to deepen exchanges and cooperation in industries, science and technology, economy and trade, culture and other fields between the two countries, and further enhance Shanghai's level of opening up to the outside world.

Zhang Hui pointed out that Bank of China, as the first Chinese financial institution to land in Italy and the first strategic partner of the China Italy Industrial Park, actively plays a bridging role in cooperation between China and Italy.

Yu Yuantang pointed out that since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Italy in 2004, the bilateral trade volume has increased nearly fourfold, maintaining a historical high of over 70 billion US dollars for four consecutive years. Italy has become the fourth largest source of direct investment for China in the European Union and an important investment destination for China in the EU.

At the roundtable exchange session, PAMA, a representative of Italian companies in the Lin-gang New Area, introduced the original intention and recent development of choosing Lin-gang. Relevant departments of the management committee responded to the concerns of about 40 Italian companies regarding investment in Lin-gang on site.
