First Meeting Between F&BWG and Italian Embassy on the development of agri-food

Dear Members and Friends,

The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) is pleased to announce that on June 26 we organized a first meeting between the CICC’s Food & Beverage Working Group (F&BWG) and representatives of the Embassy of Italy to the PRC on the development of the agrifood sector in China.

On the occasion of the two recent sessions jointly organized by the Embassy of Italy to the PRC and CICC on food safety, representatives of the F&BWG had the pleasure to meet with Mr. Davide Liberati, Agricultural and Commercial Attaché at the Embassy of Italy and Prof. Alessandra Guidi, Science and Technology Attaché at the Embassy of Italy to discuss challenges and opportunities in the sector.

CICC representatives who attended the meeting: Cristina Corsini, FBWG Coordinator, CEO at Good Italy, Daniele Salvo, FBWG Vice Coordinator in Beijing, GM at Bottega, Gennaro Miele, Zhongshan Inalca Food & Beverage Co.,Ltd, Federica Viggiani, CICC Beijing Office Manager

The meeting was also the occasion to present the CICC Food and Beverage Working Group (F&BWG) as well as the several activities organized on a national basis.

The meeting was an opportunity for receiving updated information on the status of several bilateral protocols involving different Italian product categories of interest for the F&BWG operators.

Among these, important issues and updates were communicated including the recently signed protocol that will allow the import to China of Italian pears. The advancement on other relevant product categories including fresh and cured meat, flours, and fish products were likewise communicated.

This also represented an opportunity to share relevant information coming from the business, including challenges and specific market needs, such as the issues encountered in the import of samples for new products, cold chain channels, and specific regulations.

The CICC will maintain an open channel of communication with all relevant stakeholders in order to further develop opportunities for its Members.

The working group invites its Members to actively support these type of initiatives through the constant exchange of information and difficulties encountered on the market through the working group.
