Dear Members and Friends,
The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce is glad to announce that the True Italian Taste - Wine Pairing Masterclass was successfully held on September 25th at Food Anatomy in Shanghai.
The event is part of the project “True Italian Taste”, promoted and financed by the Ministry of Economic Development (MiSE) and carried out by Assocamerestero (the Association of the Italian Chambers of Commerce Worldwide) in cooperation with the Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad. “True Italian Taste” is part of the program "The Extraordinary Italian Taste".
The event is aimed to support and promote the authentic Italian agricultural food products in China to hinder the issue of the “Italian sounding” phenomenon, products with an Italian appearance but, not considered an authentic Made in Italy product.
After participants' registration, Mr. Mattia Romeo, the MC for the event, warmly welcomed the audience, introducing the speakers of the event to them. The first speaker was Alessandro Arduino Phd, Economic and Commercial Section of Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai. He thanked CICC for the organization of many engaging activities such as the Wine Masterclass, that contribute to the Made in Italy promotion all over the world. He also highlighted the importance of 2019 for relationships between China and Italy, recalling the presence of Italy as the Guest Country of Honor to the CIIE 2019, that will be held in Shanghai, during November 5th-10th.
Afterwards, Ms. Emanuela Vizzarro, Manager of the CICC Shanghai-Suzhou Offices took the stage, explained the importance of this project and how to avoid the "Italian sounding" phenomenon thanks to DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) & IGP (Protected geographical Indication) certifications, characterizing authentic products with the True Italian Taste.
At the end of her speech, two videos about Italian dishes (buffalo milk mozzarella and frittata) were screened to raise awareness on the benefits deriving from the use of authentic DOP and IGP products and to emphasize the special peculiarities of the Italian Cuisine, an extraordinary combination of variety, high quality, healthy raw materials and amazing flavors.
Mr. Simone Semprini, from VM Fine Wines Shanghai, and Alberto Camuso, from Interprocom Cantine Divine Shanghai presented with geographical and interesting details the eight wines tasted by the participants in the second part of the event.
After listening to the wines' presentation, participants had the unique opportunity to enjoy a show cooking held by Chef Giuseppe Tino, directly entering into his "Food Anatomy" laboratory kitchen. For the occasion, Chef Tino invented and performed on the spot, in front of all the attendes, eight peculiar recipes to be paired with the wines previously presented. In this way participants not only had the chance to attend the creation of authentic Italian food, but also had the possibility to taste it, living a wonderful Italian culinary experience!
The participants enjoyed particularly this part of the event, being engaged by questions from the MC and the KOLs and by curiosity for Chef Tino's recipes.
