Italian Republic Day, June 2nd 2017

02 June 2017

The "Republic Day" celebrates the day of the institutional referendum of 1946, where the Italian people voted to choose the form of government after the end of the Second World War.

It was an historical date, also because for the first time in the country's history women were allowed to vote.

More than 23 million people voted, of which more than 12,7 million people voted for the Republic against 10,7 million votes for the Monarchy.

The referendum held on June 2nd was chosen as the symbolic date for the Republic Day, that has been celebrated every year after 1948, when the first edition of the parade in front of the Fori Imperiali was held.

We hereby shared the dossier “L'Italia in 10 Selfie 2017 – Le radici del futuro e la sfida dei cambiamenti climatici”.

Realised by Fondazione Symbola, in cooperation with Italian Chambers of Commerce, the Dossier sums up in 10 snapshots where and how Italy and Italian companies stand out in the global competition.
